Jenny Hval Announces New Novel Paradise Rot

Norwegian artist Jenny Hval has written a new novel. Paradise Rot is a queer, coming-of-age story that follows Jo, an overseas student studying in a foreign country as she discovers her sexuality with a new roommate who blurs the boundaries of their home. According to the book’s description, Paradise Rot “presents a heady and hyper-sensual portrayal of sexual awakening and queer desire.” It’s out October 2 through Penguin Random House. In 2009, Hval released her first novel, Perlebryggeriet (Pearl Brewery), which was written in Norwegian.

Hval recently released a new EP called Feeling with Håvard Volden as Lost Girls. Her last solo album, the excellent Blood Bitch, was released in 2016.
