Drake’s had quite the Memorial Day weekend, firing off a Pusha T diss and a classic “annoyed Aubrey” track in advance of Scorpion (Did you remember that was still coming out? No?). Seeing as how the Boy has hijacked what would have been a G.O.O.D. music dominated season, it’s time for the fan content to come in, and what better content is there than Drake returning to his boom-bap roots and having his acapellas placed over production by master beatmaker 9th Wonder.
Assembled by DJ Critical Hype of The DAMN. Chronic fame, More 9th has Drizzy’s recent material colliding with 9th’s jazzy and soulful loops. If you don’t know who 9th Wonder is, all you need to know is that his production style (and that of J Dilla’s) is responsible for those “24/7 lo-fi hip hop studying/chill” mixes you love. 9th and Drake have actually worked together before on the early mixtape track “Think Good Thoughts“, so as I said before, this is actually something of a beautiful meeting of old Drake and new Drake. Listen to More 9th below.
