Spigel and Newman are most known for their work with Minimal Compact and Wire, but as Immersion, they explore a more personal sound built from engrossing soundscapes and immersive melodies. Sleepless follows 2016’s Analogue Creatures Living on an Island and presents a collection of rich electronics, from the floating dreamscapes of “Off Grid” to the title’s track’s melancholic instrumentation and the hyperactive rhythms of “Manic Toy.” Sleepless is a wide-reaching album full of lush and hypnotic music.
In support of the release, Immersion have offered up “Propulsoid,” a wide-screen, colorful post-punk cut, as today’s XLR8R download. You can grab the track below, with the album available here.
