Running Red Lights was established in 2006. Migrating from small towns all across Eastern Canada to the swelling city of Toronto.

Getting together as a pop oriented, female fronted group under the control and direction of well-established traditionalists with crumbling ideas. The band found themselves caught between 2 worlds, eventually weathering the collapse of the old guard and struggling to adapt to the new age of DIY and the ever changing music industry. Despite what at times felt like creative and career pandemonium, Running Red Lights went on to release a number of EP’s between 2009 and 2012. The band continued to be a part of Canada’s growing live music scene and in 2010 out-rivalled some of Canada’s top indie bands to become the winners of the Youdiscover Live Music Concert Series.

Running Red Lights debut album ‘There’s a Bluebird in My Heart’ released in 2014 to a sweep of praise from music journalist from all over the world. The album was added and featured on CBC and BBC Radio.

Today we share their latest single called ‘Salt’. It’s a brazenly infectious indie-pop track that showcases the bands ability to change and adapt.

The Bud Collins Trio make strange and beautiful pop music. They do not fall squarely into a genre, but yet might fit uncomfortably in many. They mix eras and influences that include jazz, progressive rock, electronic music, lounge, and fusion. Comparisons range from XTC, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, to Robyn Hitchcock, echoes of Brian Wilson, Camper Van Beethoven, the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Elliott Smith, and Todd Rundgren. But the band warn that this is merely speculation and could just be hearsay.

They just played 3 shows at SXSW and have a new EP out “N0 5uch Th1ng”, which hit 109 on the US college charts in April

We Got Heat’ marks the debut release of electropop troupe GLOSSE. A provocative, brooding track about commitment and fidelity, ‘We Got Heat’ evokes a sense of danger and disobedience from the offset. The song presents itself as a showdown and is a twisted, wry look at the idea of obsession and relationships. It seems the protagonist cannot resist someone they know is harmful. There’s a sense of addiction to the excessive, hedonistic love they share; with calls for “fire” and “glamour” and the yearning admission that “what I need is what you give”.

The tracks meshes electronic and instrumental textures to create a mood that can appeal to both dance lovers and a more indie audience. Creeping guitar jabs linger like shadows amidst the xylophonic synths, reminiscent of Hans Zimmer’s ‘Badlands’ theme. As the chorus swells, lyrics of “bed sheets in the back seat” conjure up images of writhing bodies and the breakdown, punctuated with beats of heavy breathing, adds to the sensual nature of the track. It’s a method that captures the ensemble’s strength and goes straight for the jugular.

The enigmatic group cites influences ranging from visual and auditory pleasures such as 80’s Electronica and ‘The Lost Boys’, to ideas like the American dream. GLOSSE is a German word that means the writing between the lines and, with this in mind, the ethos of GLOSSE is to create music that is highly introspective but also provides an unflinching commentary for people’s lives, so they can recognise and reflect on their own experiences of love and loss, desires and self-truths.

‘We Got Heat’ is a statement; it is the start of something distinctive and the sound of a powerful new group. It’s time to acquaint yourself with this impressive new talent as they embark on a new journey.

Memènto Mori, with his dark, distinct voice and his wonderful ability to make timeless and innovative songs with catcy tunes, has managed to arrange and produce tunes that manage to sneak into our bone marrow and stay there forever. The artist is actually named Pål-Andrè Rauan and comes from Larvik. His debut album, “My Minor Universe”, will be released in 2018.

With a blend of melancholy chords, its dark voice, multi-voice choirs, texts of life and death as well as hope and love, Memènto Mori draws inspiration from the dark and melancholy like Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave, dreamy harmonies, catchy melodies and surprising chord change like The Beach Boys.
